About Lima Cruise Terminal

Once a major port of all South America’s Spanish colony, the Port of Lima is the most important port in Peru. The main port of Lima is Callao situated 9 miles in the western part of the city. Lima port is a major hub for cargo vessels, but it is also used occasionally as a port of call by various cruise ships. The city is also the gateway to cruise ships which have sailed the South Pacific from Far East. But port of Lima is also a favorite port of call for most cruises coming from North America heading towards Santiago or Valparaiso.

The port area is quite far from the city of Lima which means you will need to hire a taxi or ride a bus in order to get there. The Lima port in Callao is near the airport and you can get there via a taxi ride. Some of the cruise lines docking at Lima port in Callao include Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Avalon Waterways, Crystal Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and others.

Lima is a large city which is home to about 10 million people. There are still many colonial buildings that can be seen in the downtown area. While in Lima, don’t fail to miss sightseeing tours which focus mainly on the city’s colonial history. You can visit several museums, churches and colonial buildings which are usually flooded with tourists. Plaza de Armas, Lima’s main plaza, is probably the best starting point when exploring the city. The plaza is home to several important buildings such as the City Hall, the Government Palace, and the Archbishop’s Palace. You can also find the Lima Cathedral in the plaza which is the place where they buried Pizarro.
